Key responsibilities

  • Contributing to ongoing research activities on the optimization of Operations & Maintenance for energy-intensive industries, helping to improve long-term financial performance and operational reliability.
  • Developing mathematical models for the lifecycle management of critical industrial assets, considering factors like asset health.
  • Implementing multi-stage optimization algorithms, focusing on balancing long-term strategic goals with operational decisions.
  • Analyzing and summarizing results and preparing technical documentation.
  • We expect that you will show readiness to tackle difficult problems, above-average motivation to implement and test developed models and algorithms, and proactiveness to come up with new ideas on how to overcome possible challenges.
  • Driving an independent work task as a project team member.

Qualifications for the role

  • You have a Master’s study background in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a similar field.
  • You know how to model complex systems starting from first-principles equations.
  • You are well acquainted with mathematical optimization and algorithms.
  • You have programming experience (e.g., Python, C/C++).
  • You have publication experience, which is a plus.
  • You are familiar with Git and LaTeX, which is a plus.
  • You are proficient in using optimization solvers (e.g., CPLEX, Gurobi, or open-source solvers), which is a plus.
  • You are a good communicator with sound English skills in speaking and writing as required by an international team.
