Starting as soon as possible in Mannheim, our department Knowledge Exchange & Outreach, Team Training is looking for a
Student Research Assistant
(13,25 €/14,09 € hourly rate, 20-40 hrs./month)
The department „Knowledge Exchange and Outreach“ currently consists of three teams (Training, Publications, and Library & Open Access) whose products and services support the scientific GESIS departments and the research community. The team Training organizes the scientific training program in social research methods for researchers from the social sciences and neighboring disciplines. Current topics are covered by compact workshops as well as longer, modular seminars. The advertised position is part of the BMBF-funded KODAQS project. With this project, GESIS, together with the University of Mannheim and LMU Munich, will create a data competence center for the social sciences that will provide researchers with the necessary skills to assess, process and analyze social science data
Your tasks:
- Support in the preparation and implementation of courses in the field of social science data quality using innovative learning methods in our KODAQS Academy (e.g. video editing, preparation of reparation of teaching materials)
- Support of and collaboration in team members’ research projects in the area of computational social science (mostly with a focus on data quality)
- Support in communicating the project results (e.g., creating blog posts)
your Profile:
- Social science studies (psychology, sociology, political science)
- Good knowledge of the methods of quantitative (survey-)research and statistics and/or computational social science
- Sound knowledge of a statistics program (e.g., R, Stata, or Python)
- Very good knowledge of MS Office
- Experience with video editing is desirable
- Experience with analyzing text data is desirable
