At the core of the Max Planck Foundation’s mission stands the provision of technical legal assistance to our partner countries (see: https://www.mpfpr.de). Through legal consulting and capacity building activities, the Foundation assists States endeavouring to develop their legal systems and strengthen their institutions. Alongside these different country projects, the in-house Publications and Research Training Unit is responsible for several publications-related output produced by the Foundation, and also offers training in editorial processes and academic legal research. This includes, for instance, the management of the Max Planck Yearbook of United Nations Law (UNYB), an annual scholarly periodical that deals with issues and activities related to the UN and current developments in public international law (see: https://www.mpfpr.de/publications/unyb/).
The Publications and Research Training Unit is looking for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in academic publishing, legal research support, and editorial processes across a variety of topics in public international law and comparative constitutional law. The main tasks will include but not be limited to, formatting and copy-editing of academic texts, identification of suitable peer-reviewers, conducting literature reviews for topics of interest related in public international law and undertaking preliminary editorial reviews of article submissions. This is an excellent opportunity to deepen one’s understanding of legal research and publication processes, while enhancing skills in editorial and research work.
